We had the pleasure of having 2 students from UKZN Information Studies visit the Alan Paton Centre on the 11 October 2018. They both are primary school teachers who was offered bursaries from the department to do their Postgraduate Diploma in Information Studies at UKZN. Nelisiwe Maphanga is the Deputy Principal at Alston Primary School in Pietermaritzburg. She is teaching Social Science to Grade 4 learners. She was very excited to tell me that their school was built in 1903, the same year Alan Paton was born. Makhosazana Dlamini is a teacher at Sibongumbomvu Combined School at Cedara teaching Maths and English to the learners.
